{"id":4853,"date":"2021-05-31T12:49:08","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T09:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/?p=4853"},"modified":"2021-05-31T12:49:09","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T09:49:09","slug":"drug-tests-for-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/en\/blog\/2021\/05\/31\/drug-tests-for-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"Drug tests for employees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The employer may require that you take a drug test if you have been elected to a job that requires accuracy, reliability, independent discretion or good reaction ability.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg blue\">\n<h4><strong>Jobs in which the use of drugs could compromise and endanger:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>your own or another person&#8217;s life or health<\/li>\n<li>occupational safety and health<\/li>\n<li>national defence<\/li>\n<li>security of the state<\/li>\n<li>road safety<\/li>\n<li>the environment (increase the risk of a significant environmental damage)<\/li>\n<li>data security of confidential information<\/li>\n<li>protection of information gained in duty or significant business secret.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg pink\">\n<h4><strong>If you are intended to take care of duties<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>in which the employer does not monitor the workspace and significant danger or financial damage can be caused to customers (e.g. home-help service)<\/li>\n<li>which involves independent work with minors<\/li>\n<li>in which you may get hold of narcotics or medicine used as such.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Source:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tyosuojelu.fi\/web\/en\/employment-relationship\/rights-and-responsibilities-at-work\/privacy-protection\/drug-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ty\u00f6suojelu.fi<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drug testing during employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The employer can oblige you to present a drug test certificate during the employment, if the employer has reason to suspect that you are working under the influence of drugs or addicted to drugs. The employer requesting a test must have a\u00a0written substance abuse programme in use in the occupational health services scheme. The employer is also accountable for the costs of the tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drug testing at work can be requested either by the employer or by the operating unit of the occupational health care.&nbsp;If the employer requests a drug test, you must submit&nbsp;<strong>a certificate of the drug test to the employer<\/strong>. If you do not submit the certificate to the employer, you may get a warning or be dismissed, depending on the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The certificate takes a stand on whether you have used drugs for other than medical purposes.\u00a0 Healthcare professionals participating in testing are required to be familiar with drug testing or have other similar training.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg blue\">\n<h3><strong>The employer can oblige to a drug test during employment only if:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>you are justifiably suspected of being under the influence of a drug during working hours or of having a drug addiction<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>you work in a job where drug abuse:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>seriously puts an employee&#8217;s or another person&#8217;s life, health or occupational safety at risk;<\/li>\n<li>seriously compromises national defence or government security<\/li>\n<li>seriously compromises road safety<\/li>\n<li>increases the risk of significant environmental damages;<\/li>\n<li>seriously jeopardizes the data security of confidential information<\/li>\n<li>compromises a business or professional secret<\/li>\n<li>may cause illegal trading of medicine or other substances used for intoxication that are accessible due to work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The employer may require that you take a drug test if you have been elected to a job that requires accuracy, reliability, independent discretion or good reaction ability.
