{"id":4886,"date":"2021-06-09T13:59:59","date_gmt":"2021-06-09T10:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/?p=4886"},"modified":"2021-06-09T14:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-06-09T11:00:00","slug":"checklist-for-the-unemployed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/en\/blog\/2021\/06\/09\/checklist-for-the-unemployed\/","title":{"rendered":"Checklist for the unemployed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When your employment is terminated, check the following:<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg pink\">\n<ul>\n<li>When your employment ends, make sure that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/en\/employment\/notice-and-resignation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the reason for ending it<\/a>is legal.<\/li>\n<li>Ask your employer for a written notice and references.<\/li>\n<li>If you seek unemployment benefits, ask your employer for\u00a0a payroll statement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heading for the next job and ensuring subsistence<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg blue\">\n<ul>\n<li>Register at the employment office as a job-seeker on your first day of unemployment at the latest.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the instructions of the employment office on how to keep the job search in force.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply for the unemployment benefit as instructed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"editor-bg pink\">\n<ul>\n<li>Apply for earnings-related unemployment benefit at the unemployment fund \u2013 for the basic unemployment allowance and the labour market support at Kela.<\/li>\n<li>The application must be submitted within three months of the beginning of the unemployment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tyoelamaan.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rahaa-maassa-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3528\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg pink\">\n<ul>\n<li>The applications are made in periods of four weeks or one month. Remember to attach the required attachments to the application. If your application is incomplete, it will take longer to process and at worst, the unemployment benefit may be denied.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avoid paying back benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"editor-bg blue\">\n<ul>\n<li>Notify both the employment office and the unemployment fund or Kela of any changes in your conditions (e.g. new employment, change of address or phone number).<\/li>\n<li>When your first application is processed, you get a decision on the daily allowance, the payment advice and the follow-up application form.
